Bookcrossing: Catch Me If You Can (new poem)
I recently discovered the delightful phenomenon of bookcrossing. I released my first book "into the wild" today and wrote this poem:
BOOKCROSSING: CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
I've been released into the wild Just like a wide-eyed, wondrous child And though I travel far from home I know I'll seldom be alone
I'm making friends along the way And teaching adults how to play I'm bringing unexpected joys To lots of little girls and boys
To some, I am a mystery To others, like a fantasy I bring cold thrills and warm romance But is it fate or is it chance?
So catch me if you can today Tomorrow I'll be miles away Or maybe just around the block Or in your favourite coffee shop
And if you find me, pick me up I'll share my life and bring you luck Then set me free to make more friends So that my story never ends

James Lovelock (interview)
Yesterday, I interviewed James Lovelock, founder of the Gaia Hypothesis, at his home in Cornwall. His concept of the Earth as a self-regulating organism has inspired me for many years and it was a great privilege to meet him. His ideas remain quite controversial (for example, he believes the transition to a planet that is around 6 degrees hotter is inevitable), but it is hard not to take him seriously, given his legacy of scientific work and humble manner.

Lecturing in Mexico
On 8 September, I gave two lectures on CSR 2.0 to business students at Anuhuac University and on 9 September I delivered a presentation at a CSR conference in Mexico City. Here is a poster advertising the lectures:

The conference marked the launch by Anuhuac University of an Inter-American Development Bank research report on CSR and SMEs in Mexico.

POEM
Florence: A Thousand Sights
What sweet surprise, what strange delight To find myself this Florence night On wings across the miles to you ... I wonder if you miss me too
My soul's aglow, my mind's aflame Among this city's ancient names Who led the Renaissance in art And stoked the embers of my heart A thousand sights, a thousand smells A thousand stories each one tells
And so I'm wishing you were here Imagining that you are near A time too short, an end too soon A drifting cloud across the moon A dream beneath the starry skies The darkest hour before sunrise

My Secret (new poem)
MY SECRET
So you want to know my secret: The mysterious light in my eyes And rainbow mist in my smile?
The phantom blush on my brow And glistening glow on my skin? The flinted spark of my touch And flickering flame of my mind?
My secret is simply this: I have swallowed the sun! (That fiery orb some call love).
