Poem - A Tale of Two Cities

I have just returned from Manheim in Germany, where I am teaching a four day undergraduate course on corporate social responsibility to undergraduate business students. The trip got me thinking about how destinations often don't match our expectations, but nevertheless offer surprises.

Here's an extract from the poem I wrote, entitled "Manheim: A Tale Of Two Cities":

A modern city by the river -
The brochure purred enticingly
Omitting to mention
That it was flattened in the war
Then rebuilt as a lego-block town
Cut off from the river
By a ten track railway
